32 | During pertinent interviews, observations and record reviews information referencing staff does not ensure the rodent issue is being properly addressed at the facility and staff does not ensure floors are kept in clean, sanitary conditions for children in care disclosed. During interviews it was disclosed that rodents had been seen on premises. On 5/22/2023 LPA toured premises, LPA observed rodent dropping on the floors inside the classrooms and rodent trapping on premises. LPA confirmed with director that there was presence of rodents in the facility. Director stated that a pest control company was contacted, LPA obtained a copy of pest service invoice bill, dated 5/17/23. Pest service inspection completed; entry points repaired, and thirty day trapping plan put in place. Unusual incident report (LIC 624) submitted reporting of rodent problem due to recent rain. Based on information collected the preponderance of evidence standard has been met, therefore the above allegations are found to be substantiated.
Although licensee took measures to resolve rodent issue there was still a violation. The facility is being cited a Type B violation since the rodent issue has been assessed, actions have been taken, and is no longer an immediate threat to the children, staff members, and visitors. In accordance with California Code of Child Care Title 22 regulation this facility is being cited (2) deficiencies; this is a violation of Title 22 Child Care Regulation- 101238 Building and Grounds (a) The Child center shall be clean, safe, sanitary and in good repair at all times to ensure the safety and well-being of children, employees and visitors. (1) The licensee shall take measures to keep the center free of flies, other insects, and rodents. Refer to LIC 9099 D page.
A copy of this report reviewed with licensee and copy given. Licensee was given a notice of site visit and must be posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and appeal rights given. |
