25 | On 7/9/2024 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Loyce Phillips conducted an unannounced Annual/Random Inspection and was met by Licensee, Tonya Muhammad. LPA observed 9 children in care with Assistant. All adults have a criminal record clearance. The facility operates 24 hours. Licensee was reminded that when children are awake staff must be awake. The facility does not have liability insurance, waivers are in children files. Capacity as specified on the license is being maintained during today's inspection.
LPA toured inside and outside the facility. This is a single story home with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, family dining room, kitchen, laundry area (located outside)and detached garage that has been converted into a room with a bathroom.
The areas that are accessible to children: Living room, dining area, bathroom located adjacent to the kitchen and backyard level 1 and level 2 for outdoor activities. The areas that are off limits to children: All bedrooms are off limits bathroom #2 located in Master bedroom, kitchen is off limits and 3rd level of backyard. he entire upstairs area.
There is no swimming pool or other bodies of water on the premises. No firearms in the family child care home. No poisons were observed during the inspection. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medication and other hazardous items are made inaccessible to children. LPA observed a fireplace in the living made inaccessible to children.
There is a fully charged fire extinguisher located in the kitchen. The facility has a working smoke detector and carbon inside the home that was tested and working properly. The facility has adequate heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. Safe toys, materials and play equipment observed. The facility has a first aid kits located in the bedroom/office. Children nap on mats and infant sleep in pack n' play. The home has working telephone service and LPA confirmed the phone number is 310-679-3398.
