25 | On 02/19/2025, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Lisa Clayton made an unannounced visit to the Schuster Family Child Care Home to conduct the Required 3-year inspection. LPA was greeted by Licensee Denise Schuster. LPA Clayton observed 8 children in care, being supervised by Licensee and 2 fingerprint cleared assistants. Per Licensee the hours of operation are Monday through Friday. 8am – 5pm. Licensee provides breakfast, lunch and water.
LPA toured the entire home inside and outside for a Health and Safety inspection. The home is neat and clean and has ventilation for safety and comfort. The home has working telephone and LPA Clayton confirmed the number is (310) 930 - 4235.
LPA Clayton confirmed that the home consists of: living room, dining room, kitchen, 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (two bedrooms and one bathroom on the west side of the home, and 2 bedrooms (one is a converted garage) and 1 bathroom on the east side of the home) laundry room, and a fenced back yard.
The ON LIMIT AREAS are as follows: living room (main daycare area) bedroom #1 (infant nap/play area), bathroom #1, dining room, and fenced back yard. The isolation area is in the living room.
The OFF-LIMIT AREAS are as follows: bedroom #2, bedroom #3 (converted garage), bedroom #4, and bathroom #2, all of which are inaccessible to children in care by closed and/or locked doors and visual supervision.
Furniture and equipment in the home are in good condition and free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts.
There are no pools, ponds, spas, or any other bodies of water on the property. There is a firearm and ammunition on the property, stored in her fingerprint cleared son’s room, which is off limits and inaccessible to children in care. Licensee Denise opened a cabinet and LPA Clayton observed what licensee reported to be a locked gun safe, and what licensee reported to be a locked gun case which, per the licensee, contain the ammunition. Licensee stated that she does not know the combination to the safe, nor does she know the combination to the ammunition case lock.
