Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), V. Wheatley conducted an inspection and met with Site Supervisor/CDI, Medali Ramaley at 11:30am. This is a half day program. The program operates two classrooms P1 and P2 . P1 operates from 8am to 11am and 12:30pm to 3:30pm. P2 operates 8:15am to 11:15am and 12:30pm to 3:3pm. This is a Title 5 program and the ratio is 1: 8. LPA Wheatley observed 15 children in P1 and 15 children in Room P2. Each classroom is operating within proper ratios. LPA observed the children playing inside the classroom.

Furniture and equipment was inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. The telephone service, heating, lighting, and ventilation is adequate. LPA observed several age appropriate toys and educational materials. The electrical outlets inaccessible to children. LPA observed portable fans installed for ventilation. Each classroom has a wall heater which is inaccessible to the children. The children bring their own water bottles for drinking water and there are drinking fountains for the children to freely drink. There are cubbies for children's belongings. The items are labeled. The detergents and cleaning supplies are kept in the middle room (teacher's room) inaccessible to children. The teacher's room is kept closed at all times and off-limits. LPA observed trash bins with lids.

A review of medication policy indicated that medication is not administered by teaching staff. There is a health clerk on premises everyday, a nurse on the elementary school premises once a week. There is an isolation area for ill children in the nurse office. According to staff, there are no children receiving Incidental Medical Services.

The staff provide a morning and afternoon snack from two food groups. LPA observed several snacks available and a snack menu posted. LPA observed 1% milk and 100% juice is served. Children with food allergies are placed on the refrigerator.

LPA inspected the restrooms. The toilets and faucets were inspected and are functioning properly. The toilets and sinks are age appropriate. There is toilet paper, soap and paper towels in the restroom. The water temperature is appropriate.

Outdoor equipment was inspected for safety, cushioning material, good repair and age appropriateness. Play area was inspected for hazards and inaccessibility to bodies of water. The playground has wood chips. LPA observed a new play structure. There is an area for shade and rest. The drinking water is taken outside for the children to freely drink.

LPA reviewed records at 12:30pm. The files are complete. The staff have required immunizations and Child Abuse Training. LPA reviewed pediatric CPR/first aid which expires October 2021.

The staff have Care and supervision was evaluated to determine if the basic needs of children are met and appropriate. Staff was questioned to establish their familiarity of emergency reporting requirements, emergency disaster plans and other site operations. A fire or earthquake drill is held every month with the main elementary school and separately in the afternoon. Personal rights of children were discussed. There are emergency and disaster packs on the premises. Staff were reminded children are to be supervised at all times. The children are transported by bus for off-site field trips twice a year. Children use dramatic play clothing which is washed every two weeks. The children bring backpacks for their extra clothing and communication folder.

There are no violations according to Title 22 Regulations.
