Disinfectants and cleaning solutions are kept in each classroom, top cabinet making the content inaccessible to the children in care. LPA observed cleaning compounds in the kitchen that is use by staff only. First Aid Kit was observed in the main office and in each classroom. Medication is stored in the top hook of the classroom. Currently facility does not have any children that require any type of medication (epi pen and/or inhaler).
Furniture and equipment are in good condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. Playground equipment is in safe condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts.
The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. LPA observed shaded area in the outdoor space with age appropriate play equipment and toys. Areas around high climbing equipment have cushioning material to absorb falls. Teachers ensure playground and outdoor equipment is safe and free of hazard before children use the area. Sandbox area is covered at the end of each day.
All toilets and handwashing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating condition. Floors in the facility are clean and safe. All kitchen, food preparation and storage areas are clean, free of litter/rubbish and free of rodents/vermin. Facility does not provide meals and/or snacks, families are required to provide for their children enrolled. Families are responsible to bring in snacks and meals in proper containers such as thermos and or lunch bags with ice packs. Facility does have snacks available in case of an emergency. All food is protected against contamination and any contaminated food is discarded immediately. Drinking water is available both indoors and outdoors, filter water is provided in each classroom and children are encourage to bring their refillable water bottle.
Facility has staff that is responsible for daily cleaning and sanitizing an outside pest control vendor is contracted if facility has a pest problem. Facility is free of flies, insects and rodents. Teachers are responsible for the daily cleaning in between classroom activities. No poisons were observed during the inspection.
Solid waste storage containers have tight-fitting covers and are in good repair. There is a working fire extinguisher, smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and adequate heating and ventilation for safety and comfort.
Prior to working or volunteering in a licensed child care facility, all individuals subject to a criminal record review have received a criminal record clearance or exemption. Upon notification from the Department, the licensee will comply and act immediately to terminate the employment of, remove from the facility or bar from entering the facility for any person it is deemed necessary while the Department considers granting or denying an exemption. Capacity and limitations as specified on the license are being maintained.
