The facility is a two-story house. All rooms upstairs are off limits, and a wooden gate is used to barricade the entrance upstairs. There is a fireplace in the den of the facility and is covered with a locked glass door. An additional metal fence covers the fireplace. The home has central heating and air conditioning units.
Based on records review, licensee conducted the fire/earthquake drills on February 07, 2024, at 4:30 P.M., and is conducted once every six months.
Safe and age-appropriate toys, educational children’s books, small table and chairs, cubbies, and other toys were observed during the inspection. Per licensee, she provides five sleeping bags for children to use during nap time. LPA also observed 1 play pen during the inspection.
Licensee has first aid kit box stored in the cabinet by the bathroom 1. LPA observed electrical outlets are covered with a safety plastic plug to prevent access by children in care.
Licensee is advised that baby bouncers, saucer chairs, or any recalled and or banned toys or sleep/ play equipment are prohibited on the premises. Licensee is advised to check for fixture, furniture and equipment that have been banned or recalled by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Bathroom: Toilet, sink and faucet were clean and operable. During the inspection, LPA observed a step stool, liquid soap, and paper towels inside the bathroom. LPA did not observed razors and/or sharp objects, mouthwash, medications, perfumes, air freshener, nail polish and nail remover that will pose a health and safety risk to children in care.
Currently, the licensee has seven children enrolled in the facility. Licensee stated that when a child shows signs of illness, he/she is separated from other children in the dining room of the facility.
Outdoor: The facility has no body of water on the premises. The outdoor play area has a covered patio, age-appropriate toys, and play equipment. LPA observed a little trampoline, basketball, scooter, and little toy cars. Licensee stated that the children are not using the outdoor play area. Licensee is also planning to do repairs on the wooden post of the patio. |
