Medication is stored in the designated classroom, top cabinet near the sink area- inaccessible to the children in care. LPA advised facility to include a copy of the LIC 9221 with current medication- Technical Assistance was issued. LPA also reminded staff that all medication needs to be up to date and store in it’s original box with current prescription.
Furniture and equipment are in good condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. Playground equipment is in safe condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts.
The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. LPA observed shaded area in the outdoor space with age appropriate play equipment and toys. Areas around high climbing equipment have cushioning material to absorb falls. Teachers ensure playground and outdoor equipment is safe and free of hazard before children use the area.
All toilets and handwashing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating condition. Floors in the facility are clean and safe. Solid waste storage containers have tight-fitting covers and are in good repair.
All kitchen, food preparation and storage areas are clean, free of litter/rubbish and free of rodents/vermin. Facility provide snacks and menu is sent to families and posted outside each classroom. LPA advised facility to maintain a copy of menu for a minim of 30 days, making note of if any modification is made. Families are required to provide lunch/meals in appropriate containers such as ice-packs and/or thermos. All food is protected against contamination and any contaminated food is discarded immediately. Drinking water is available both indoors and outdoors, filter water is provided in each classroom and children are encouraged to bring their refillable water bottle.
There is a working fire extinguisher, smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and adequate heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. Facility was observed to have centralized sprinkler system.
Prior to working or volunteering in a licensed child care facility, all individuals subject to a criminal record review have received a criminal record clearance or exemption. Upon notification from the Department, the licensee will comply and act immediately to terminate the employment of, remove from the facility or bar from entering the facility for any person it is deemed necessary while the Department considers granting or denying an exemption. Capacity and limitations as specified on the license are being maintained.
LPA reviewed 5 staff files and observed all files were complete. Director’s Mandated Reporter was completed on 2/2/2022 and CPR and 1st Aid completed with an expiration date of 8/2023.
