25 | On 4/28/2022 Licensing Program Analysts (LPA), Loyce Phillips conducted an unannounced Annual Required Inspection and was met by Licensees, Maria Chavez and Susana Chavez. LPA observed 4 children in care. All adults present have a criminal record clearance. Days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:30am to 5:30pm. The Family Child Care Home has a Certificate of Insurance.
LPA toured the home inside and outside. The current facility sketch was reviewed and Licensee confirmed that living room (main day care room), kitchen, bathroom, bedroom #1 and Bedroom #2 are accessible to children. The front yard is enclosed and is accessible for outdoor activities for children. The backyard, driveway and detached garage are off limits to children. The detached was converted into living space for Licensee Susana Chavez. The converted garage has small living room and 2 additional rooms with a bathroom. LPA observed a storage unit to the left of the garage that was locked. Licensee stated the storage is off limits to children. No poisons were observed during the inspection. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medication and other hazardous items are made inaccessible and kept under the kitchen cabinet inaccessible to children.
There is a working fire extinguisher, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detector and adequate heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. There are no stairs in the home. Safe toys and play equipment are observed. Children sleep on mats. The home has working telephone service and LPA confirmed the phone number is (310) 490-8741.
Licensee ensures that children in care are supervised at all times and is aware children shall not be left in parked vehicles. Car seats are used for transportation purposes only and are not used for sleeping children. Capacity as specified on the license is being maintained.
