25 | On 02/16/2024 at 12:30pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Sarah Garcia conducted an unannounced Required Inspection at the above-mentioned facility. LPA was greeted by licensee, Diana Real. During the initial inspection, LPA observed no children in care. Facility operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Currently licensee is available to care for children 0 to 12 years old. Facility is Large Family Child Care Home with a max capacity of 14. Licensee provides transportation to children. LPA received a copy of licensee's driver's license.
LPA toured the home inside and outside. The home is a converted detached garage with a classroom, kitchen area, bathroom, and outdoor area. Licensee confirmed the following areas are designated for day care only: classroom, kitchen area, bathroom and outdoor area. LPA inspected the classroom and observed the space to be clean and orderly. LPA observed age-appropriate toys, materials, children's tables and books. LPA inspected the bathroom and did not observe any medications, toxins or cleaning compounds accessible to the children in care. LPA observed a half door separating the kitchen area and the classroom. LPA inspected the kitchen area and observed the knives and sharp objects to be out of reach to the children. LPA observed poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, medications under the kitchen sink. LPA advised and instructed licensee to purchase a safety latch or lever to ensure the compounds under the kitchen sink are made inaccessible to children in care.
The following areas are OFF LIMITS to the children in care: The front section of the home which include 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, living room, kitchen, dining room.
LPA inspected the outdoor area and observed safe toys, play equipment, and an empty water table. LPA observed a safety gate separating the laundry room area and the outdoor area. The outdoor area is properly fenced and supervised at all times.
