Licensing Program Analyst, V. Wheatley and conducted an Annual inspection and met with the licensee and director, L. Buckner at 1:30PM. LPA observed Mrs. Buckner in the infant room with the staff. As of now Mrs. Buckner is the lead teacher in the infant program. LPA inspected the facility and observed 14 infants napping and supervised by 5 adults/staff.

Furniture and equipment was inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. The telephone service, heating, lighting, and ventilation is adequate. The facility has central heating and air conditioning. There are cubbies for children's belongings. There is a first aid kit. LPA observed age appropriate toys, LPA observed an area for activity with a table. A separate area with rugs and has a sink is for activities and napping. There is a rear room for younger infants and two cribs. LPA observed cots for older infants. The cots were equipped with sheets and blankets. The electrical outlets are inaccessible. There is another area in the program that is not in use and off limits. This area on the westside of the room near the restroom. There is a separate area for isolation and care of ill children in the director's office.

LPA inspected the restrooms and diaper changing area. The diaper changing policy shall be posted. The sink is only used for diaper changing. The older toddlers are using the restroom for toilet training. The toilets and sinks are age appropriate and functioning properly. There is toilet paper, soap and paper towels in each restroom. The water temperature is appropriate. There is a daily report for each infant.

Children are inspected for illnesses as they arrive. A review of medication policy indicated that medication is administered with parents permission and doctor's authorization.

Outdoor equipment was inspected for health, safety, cushioning material, good material, and age appropriateness. LPA inspected the play equipment and observed age appropriate toys. There is a shaded area. The drinking water is taken outside daily. There are no bodies of water on the premises.

LPA inspected the kitchen and observed the chemicals separate from the food service. The kitchen is only used to refrigerate and microwave food and wash bottles. There is a separate area near the kitchen for eating. LPA observed several high chairs only used for eating.

Teacher child ratios were observed and staff names recorded. All staff members are fingerprint cleared. Care and supervision was evaluated to determine if the basic needs of children are met and appropriate. Staff was questioned to establish their familiarity of emergency reporting requirements, emergency disaster plans and other site operations. Personal rights of children were discussed. A fire drill or earthquake drill are held once a month and logged. Staff were reminded children are to be supervised at all times.
Sign in and out sheets were reviewed and each child has been signed in accordingly. The children are not transported off the premises for field trips.

The director was reminded of Incidental Medical Services. According to the director, there are no children receiving I.M.S.

Children and staff records were reviewed at 3PM. LPA observed one child #1 that was not signed in by authorized representative. The staff have current CPR/first aid certification which expires January 2022. Licensee states she is receiving the Child Care Quarterly Updates. Licensee was provided the SafeSleep handout and informed regarding the Effects of Lead Exposure. The licensee will provide copies to the parents as soon as possible. Additional forms and child care updates may be obtained at the department's website www.ccld.ca.gov.
