Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Victoria Hunt met with the Assistant Director, Adriana Aguilar- O'Dell for the purpose of conducting a annual random inspection of the school age program. During this inspection, LPA toured the center indoor and outdoor according to the facility sketch. This facility is a combination center with a preschool component. At the time of the inspection there were 2 staff were observed with 10 children in classroom #7 for the school program.

The school age classrooms consist of (Room # 6, 7, 8, 9 and # 10). This facility operates from 6:30 am to 6:30pm Mon - Fri and classroom # 6, operates a staggered scheduled from 6:30 am -8:30 am and to 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. This child care facility has an existing pre-school component license number, (197402211) which is separate from the School Age program. Boys and girls bathrooms; and the outside play area.

In each classroom LPA observed age appropriate furniture, equipment, toys and materials in the classrooms. The classrooms were observed to be clean, safe and free of any health or safety hazards. There is a designated area in which children can store their belongings. Telephone service was verified as well as adequate heating, lighting, and ventilation. LPA observed water dispensers and disposable cups in each classroom which are utilized for drinking. Water jugs are used for outside playtime. Medications are stored in a locked storage cabinet in the director's office.

There are fire extinguishers and smoke detector/carbon monoxide detectors in each classroom that was observed by LPA.

Facility has an intercom system and surveillance video on the premises. There are restrooms on premises that the child utilize. LPA inspected and observed the children's restrooms which are designated boys and girls. The boys bathroom consisted of (2 toilets, 2 sinks, 1 urinal) the girl's bathroom consist of ( 3 toilets, and 2 sinks).Toilets and sinks are functioning properly and are age appropriate. LPA observed an amply supply of soap, toilet paper and paper towels readily available for the children to use. Staff utilize a separate restroom that the children do not utilize, the restrooms were observed to be clean and in good condition.

Outdoor play equipment was inspected for health and safety, the playground consist of a handball court, basketball court, a hop scotch area. There is an grassy area for active play and other toys available for the children to play with that are in good condition, Drinking water is available with drinking jugs. Play area was inspected for hazards and inaccessibility. No bodies of water were observed to be on the premises of this facility. There are no weapons or firearms on premises of this facility.

Children are inspected for illnesses and well-ness checks are performed as children arrive. A review of medication policy indicated that prescription medication are administered with only a parent's written permission. The Director or office staff are the only personnel that administers the medication and documents the dosage, date and time onto a log. Medication is brought and taken home by the parent daily if needed, or retained in a lock cabinet or stored in a refrigerator that is located in the (director office). Medication is properly labeled and stored in its original container.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. Menus are posted in the office and on the sign in sheets. Allergy lists are posted in each classroom, snack room, and the main office. LPA observed an appropriate amount of food and snacks. The chemicals are kept separate from the food. The facility has ensured and establish measures to keep the facility free of flies and other insects or rodents. Trash cans were observed to have tight fitted lids/covers.

There is an operating telephone in the Child Care Center. LPA observed fully charged and operational 2A10BC fire extinguisher located in each classroom. This facility has one or more functioning carbon monoxide detectors that meets statutory requirements. All storage containers for solid waste are in good repair.

**Teacher child ratios were observed and care and supervision was evaluated to determine if the basic needs of children is appropriately met. Sign in and out sheets were reviewed. The parent board was reviewed and has all of the required forms posted. Fire/earthquake drills current and are conducted at least one a month. Children's records and staff records were reviewed were complete. LPA verified at least one or more staff person present at the facility has a current Pediatric CPR and First Aid training that is valid until 09/2020.
