25 | On March 3, 2020 at 9:25 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Loyce Phillips arrived at Ascencio Family Child Care for the purpose of conducting an unannounced required 1 Year inspection. LPA met with Licensee, Emma Ascencio, who guided analyst on a tour of the home. This is single story family 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms home with living room, dining area, kitchen, family room (day-care room), and attached garage. There is no pool, spa or other bodies of water on the premises.
Present during inspection were Licensee, Licensee's adult daughter, spouse and 9 day care children. Days/hours of operation 7 days a week less than 24 hours. Licensee is aware that there must be an awake staff present when children are in care.
Main care is provided in the day-care room which is located next to the living room. Children have access to the bathroom located in the hall to the left and backyard. Off limits areas includes the living room, kitchen, 3 bedrooms and bathroom in the master bedroom. The rooms are made inaccessible by child's safety gate at entrance of hallway. The backyard is completely fenced off, with concrete and grass area for active play and has age appropriate toys.
The home was inspected inside and out for safety, comfort, cleanliness, telephone service, heating and ventilation. Poisons, detergents/cleaning compounds, medicines and hazardous items that can pose a danger to children were inaccessible. Kitchen knives are stored in a the kitchen drawer to the right of the stove. The kitchen is made inaccessible by child safety gate at one entrance and closed door at second entrance.
Per Licensee, there are no weapons or firearms on the premise. LPA did not observe any in the home. There are age appropriate toys. Age appropriate napping equipment which includes mats.
