25 | On 10/16/19 at approximately 9:30 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Angelica Ramirez met with Kim Purnell, Director, for the purpose of conducting an annual inspection. The facility is a before and after school program located at the Gardena Christian Academy which also shares a site for a licensed preschool. LPA Ramirez toured and inspected the First Grade classroom, kindergarten classroom and the fourth and fifth grade room. The before and after-school program hours of operation are from 6:30 AM to 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The facility is operating within capacity limitations. This facility also operates a Private School Affidavit which does not fall under licensing jurisdiction. LPA observed a copy of the current private school affidavit.
Upon arrival, the before and after-school program was not in session. A total of 27 children were present for the Private School Affidavit. LPA did not observe bodies of water on the premises. Per director, there are no firearms or weapons in the classroom. LPA did not observe firearms or weapons. LPA observed disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons, and other dangerous items stored in a locked closet, inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed medication inaccessible to children in care, properly stored and labeled in the teacher's lounge.
LPA observed the classroom to have age appropriate material and equipment. Furniture in the classroom was found to be in good condition, free from sharp, loose, or pointed parts. All kitchen, food prep, and storage areas were observed to be clean, free of litter, rubbish, and rodent or vermin. LPA inspected the refrigerator and found all foods/beverages capable of rapid spoiling stored in covered containers at 45 degrees Fahrenheit or less. Snacks are provided by the facility and a menu was observed posted at the facility. Food and snacks were inspected for availability, quantity and appropriateness to children in care. Solid waste storage vessels, including moveable bins, were observed to have tight fitting covers on, and are in good repair. LPA observed uncontaminated drinking water available both indoors and outdoors (pitchers and water bottles). |
