The facility is a two-story house. All rooms upstairs are off limits, and a metal gate is used to barricade the entrance upstairs. There is no fireplace at the facility. The home has central heating and air conditioning units.
Based on records review, fire/earthquake drills were conducted on January 03, 2024, at 11:06 A.M.
LPA observed safe and age-appropriate toys, children’s books, puzzles, Legos, and other learning materials. LPA also observed enough sleeping mats. The first aid kit box is stored inside the portable cubby on the top shelf of the entertainment area of the living room. LPA observed electrical outlets are covered with a safety plastic plug to prevent access by children in care.
Licensee is advised that baby bouncers, saucer chairs, or any recalled and or banned toys or sleep/ play equipment are prohibited on the premises. Licensee is advised to check for fixture, furniture and equipment that have been banned or recalled by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Bathroom: Toilet, sink and faucet were clean and operable. During the inspection, LPA observed step stools, paper towel, wet wipes, and liquid soap inside the bathroom. LPA did not observed razors and/or sharp objects, shampoo, mouthwash, medications, perfumes, air freshener, nail polish and nail remover that will pose a health and safety risk to children in care.
Currently, the licensee has thirty children enrolled including one infant in the facility. Licensee stated that when a child shows signs of illness while at the day care, he/she is separated from other children in the corner of the living room of the facility.
Outdoor: The facility has no body of water on the premises. The outdoor play area has a covered porch. The outdoor play area has a covered porch and age-appropriate toys and play equipment. LPA observed two trampolines, airplane seesaw that moves from side to side, playhouse with two slides. Licensee is also using recycled tire chips to support the fall from the slides.
At the time of inspection, Licensee is aware of the requirement to report unusual incidents and/or injuries to the parent/guardian and Licensing on the day of the incident and/or 24 hours of incident by telephone, fax and/or in writing to the Department.
