The facility is a two-story house. All rooms upstairs are off limits, and a wooden gate is used to barricade the entrance upstairs. There is a fireplace in the family room and is covered with a with a metal screen. The home has central heating and air conditioning units.
Based on records review, licensee conducted the fire/earthquake drills on April 3, 2024, at 4:35 P.M., and is conducted once a month.
Safe and age-appropriate toys, toy cars, blocks, wooden blocks, ball pit, puzzles, dolls, were observed during the inspection. LPA also observed twelve sleeping cots for children to use during nap time. LPA also observed 1 play pen during the inspection.
Licensee has first aid kit boxes stored under the kitchen sink and on top of the fireplace mantle. LPA observed electrical outlets are covered with a child safety plastic plug to prevent access by children in care.
Licensee is advised that baby bouncers, saucer chairs, or any recalled and or banned toys or sleep/ play equipment are prohibited on the premises. Licensee is advised to check for fixture, furniture and equipment that have been banned or recalled by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Bathroom: Toilet, sink and faucet were clean and operable. LPA did not observed razors and/or sharp objects, shampoos, mouthwash, medications, perfumes, air freshener, nail polish and nail remover that will pose a health and safety risk to children in care.
Currently, the licensee has eight children enrolled including one infant in the facility. Licensee stated that when a child shows signs of illness, the child is separated from other children in the bedroom 1 of the facility.
Outdoor: The facility has no body of water on the premises. The outdoor play area is made of concrete and has a covered patio. LPA observed a trampoline at the outdoor play area. Per licensee, the trampoline is only being used by her grandchildren.
