32 | On 03/17/2020 at 9:20am Licensing Program Analysts (LPA's) Lourdes Castellanos and Ericka Hill arrived at the facility to conduct an Unannounced 10-day Complaint Investigation. LPA's were greeted by Licensee, at the locked driveway gate. Then LPA's walked through the front door and observed the child care area. LPA's observed cubbies, sign-in/out sheets, age-appropriate equipment, multi-language materials, a piano and other materials for 2-5 year old. LPA's did not observe any children in care due to the facility being closed on 3/17/2020 due to health concerns. LPA's observed the facility to be clean, well ventilated, safe, and providing age-appropriate toys/materials.
Allegation 1: Licensee hit a child in care
During Initial complaint visit on 3/17/2020, LPA’s interviewed the licensee regarding disciplining procedures, Licensee denied screaming or hitting at the children as type of discipline. Licensee stated when children misbehave, she gives children another activity to do. Licensee stated that she softly speaks to the children and gives them another chance to participate or clean-up. Licensee also stated that she reads a book titled “feet are not for kicking” to remind children to be nice and keep their bodies to themselves.
Allegation #2- Licensee screams at the children in care
Parent #1 & #2 interviews revealed that they have no concerns and are satisfied with the level of care being provided by licensee she is great and works with the children well. Parents reported that their children have never complained about the care and supervision provided by the Licensee. Children are happy when they are dropped off and picked up. Parents stated that the children are attached to the licensee and relate to her at as “teacher Maggie”. Parents stated they are also satisfied with the different activities being taught at the facility such as music lessons and multiple languages. Parents revealed that they have never witnessed licensee scream or yell at the children. Parents stated that they can enter the facility with no grief from the licensee when they arrive at the facility early. Parents stated that the licensee ask them to call her so that she can unlock the front gate and childcare entry door.
