25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Peter Flores and Jeanette Estrada conducted an unannounced annual 3 year inspection to ensure the health & safety standards as required by regulations governing family child care homes are being met. At 10:00 AM, LPAs met with licensee Juana Hong. LPAs informed licensee of nature of the visit and were guided on a tour (inside and outside) of the home. LPAs confirmed with licensee that all adults residing/working in the home have criminal record/TB clearances.
The home has a living room, dining room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, and 1 bathroom. The main care will be provided in the kitchen, dining room, living room and backyard. Licensee was reminded that the detach garage can not be used for day care. The bedrooms are off-limits to children in care and doors must be kept closed during business hours.
At 10:15 AM, LPAs observed the required fire extinguisher 2A10BC, a working smoke and carbon monoxide detector, age appropriate toys, napping equipment, changing table, first aid kit in the kitchen with emergency supplies. LPAs did not observe sharp objects, toxins and hazardous materials accessible to children in the kitchen and bathroom. Licensee and staff have current CPR/Pediatric certification. Licensee states there are no weapons in the home and none observed by the LPAs. There is telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated and in good condition. There are no bodies of water in the premises. Licensee states currently does not have any children in care at this time that require Incidental Medical Services (IMS). There were 5 children in care at the time of inspection with the licensee. At 10:30 AM, LPAs reviewed children's files and observed the licensee is operating within capacity limits.
