Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Victoria Hunt met with Site director, Candice Butera, today for the purpose of conducting an unannounced Annual/Random inspection. During the time of this inspection LPA observed a total of 38 preschool children and 8 qualified staff members. During the time of the inspection children were napping. This facility is a preschool center with a toddler option. The preschool operates Monday – Friday 6:30 a.m to 6:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. LPA toured and inspected the preschool inside and out.

This facility has a total of two preschool classrooms and one toddler classroom. Each classroom was observed to be clean, safe and in good repair. In each classroom LPA observed furniture and equipment that was age appropriate and in good repair. LPA observed age appropriate toys, games, and cubbies in which children child store their belongings. There was educational learning material posted on the walls. Drinking dispensers are observed to be in each classroom, water is readily available for children to drink.

There are a total of two preschool bathrooms and one staff restroom. Staff utilize the restroom in the front by the main entrance doors. The bathrooms were observed to be sanitary and in good condition. Toilets and sinks are functioning properly and were considered age appropriate. LPA observed an ample supply of soap, toilet paper and paper towels that are readily available. Inside each preschool bathroom LPA observed, 2 toilets and 2 sinks.

Per the Director, there are no bodies of water or pools on the premises of this facility. There are no weapons or firearms on premises at this facility.

There is a clean, equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, freezer, and microwave. The facility provides snacks. Menus are posted in the kitchen, in each classroom, and near the parent board. LPA observed an appropriate amount of food and snacks in the kitchen. Allergy lists are posted in each classroom. Chemicals are kept separate from the food (kitchen). The kitchen is inaccessible to children. LPA did not observe any opened food, all food was wrapped and/or in its original containers. Menus are posted in the classroom.

This facility has ensured and establish measures to keep the facility free of flies and other insects or rodents. The food- preparation area is clean and free of hazards. Trash cans/storage containers were observed to have tight-fitting covers for solid waste.

There is an operating telephone in the child care center and a fully charged and operational 2A10BC fire extinguisher located on the premises of the facility. Napping equipment was inspected and was observed to be in good, sanitary condition. Sheets are stored in each child's storage cubbies.

Cleaning solutions is inaccessible to children; all cleaning solutions were observed to be stored in cabinets that were locked by key.

Outdoor play equipment was inspected for health, safety, cushioning material, good repair and age appropriateness. LPA observed a large play apparatus play structure. The play apparatus was securely anchored to the ground underneath the play structure, LPA observed foam matting material for cushioning. The area in which the play structure/apparatus was observed was free and clear of debris. There was a second play structure observed to be on the play yard for the toddler children. The play structure was securely anchored to the ground and underneath the play structure foam matting cushioning material was observed to be in good condition. There were several shaded canopies on the outside used to shade the children. There are drinking fountains on the play yard but the facility utilizes large water jugs.

Children are inspected for illnesses as they arrive. There is a separate area for isolation and care of ill children in the director's office. There are cots/mats readily available for each ill child.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. The teacher’s and children ratios were observed. Care and supervision was evaluated and it was determine that the basic needs of the children are being met and appropriate. This facility has electronic sign in for parents. The parent board was reviewed and all of the required licensing forms were posted. Fire/earthquake drills current. Fire/Disaster drills are conducted at lease every month. Children's records and staff records were reviewed, and the records were complete. LPA verified at least one staff person present that has a current Pediatric CPR and First Aid training that is valid with an (expiration date of 07/2020).

**Licensee informed to review updates/regulations for 2016/2017 on the department website. ; AB 1207 - all child care employees must complete mandated reporter training beginning January 1, 2018; AB 1387 - and AB 2236 process to request a formal review of deficiency and establishes an appeal process for civil penalties; SB 792 - requires all staff and volunteers to show proof of immunization against influenza, pertussis and measles, and TB clearance, beginning September 1, 2016; 2018 New Safe Sleep Regulations for infants and AB 2231 Effective July 1, 2017 - Civil Penalty Amount changes.

This facility is in compliance with Title 22 Regulations no citations were issued during this visit. Director advised Notice of Site Visit shall be posted for 30 days.
