25 | On August 20, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kris Diaz, conducted an unannounced Annual/Random Inspection. LPA met with Licensee’s Assistant, Astrid Ordonez, who grated access. Licensee arrived shortly after LPA arrival and guided LPA on a tour of the home. People who reside in the home are Licensee and her spouse who are live scanned and have TB skin test on file and their minor children (11, 15). The large family childcare home operates 23 hours, 5 days per week Monday through Friday. Licensee was advised that a staff member must always be awake while children are awake. At the time of the visit there were 8 children present with 1 staff member.
This is a two-story home with 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, family room, living room, laundry room, and garage. Children have access to family room which has been converted for childcare, downstairs bathroom, and backyard. Off-limit areas of the home are the entire upstairs including all bedrooms, kitchen, laundry room, living room, dining room, and garage. Off-limits areas are made inaccessible with safety gates. LPA observed a deadbolt lock on garage door making it inaccessible to children. LPA observed cubbies for children to store their belongings. LPA observed several age-appropriate toys and activities in the childcare room and backyard. There is no swimming pool/body of water on the premises.
The home was inspected inside for comfort, cleanliness, telephone service, heating, and ventilation. Medications are stored near the front door in cubbies in a locked box. This area is made inaccessible with safety gates. Per licensee, children have access to this area only upon entry and exit of the facility and are always supervised during the transition. The kitchen knives are stored in an upper kitchen cabinet inaccessible to children. Cleaning compounds are stored in the laundry area in a cabinet above the washer and dryer. LPA advised licensee to repair the safety latches on the cabinets. Per licensee, children are 100% visually supervised when in that area to access the restroom.
