25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Christopher Garlington met with Crystal Thompson, Administrator and Principal of LITTLE SCHOLARS ACADEMY LLC. for the purpose of conducting an unannounced Annual Required Inspection. LPA toured the facility indoors and outdoors as identified per facility sketches.
Upon LPA’s arrival, 6 children were observed in care. LPA Garlington observed and photographed sign/sign out sheets, Facility Parent Board, Daily Schedule of Activities, Notification of Parents’ Rights, California Child Passenger Safety Law, Personal Rights, Fire Evacuation and Safety poster, Emergency Disaster Plan and July 2019 Weekly Menu. Facility is operating within capacity limitations. LPA observed care provided by 1 classroom with a ratio of 1 teacher to 6 school age children. LPA inspected the classroom and found it to be clean and free from any potential hazards. LPA observed classroom to have age appropriate material and equipment.
Furniture in each classroom was found to be in good repair and age appropriate. There is adequate heating (heat vent screened), lighting and ventilation. Drinking water is readily available from a water cooler and a filtered water dispenser stored in the refrigerator and used when children are in the outdoor play area. Isolation area for sick students is located either in the Director's office or an unused classroom with an assigned staff member providing individual care. Napping equipment was inspected for good condition. Bedding is provided by parents, with laundering required weekly.
