25 | On 6/17/2021 at approximately 11:15am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Lisa Clayton met with Christine Nicholas, Site Director for an Unannounced Annual Inspection. Also present for this visit was Clark Parker Chief Administrator, 2 Teachers, 5 administrative staff members and 4 children in care.
The center and playground were toured to conduct a Health and Safety Inspection. Operating hours are Monday - Friday from 7am to 5:30pm.
The area where the preschool operates is completely fenced in (Perimeter Fence all round). The facility consists of 3 classrooms (of which only 1 is currently being used for children in care), 3 bathrooms, an isolation area away from children in care, and a play yard. Site Director advised that the yard equipment and tables are cleaned daily. All which appears to be safe, clean and in good repair. The Administrative offices are on the second floor. There is adequate storage for children's belongings. There is adequate furniture, toys and activities, which are age appropriate and in good condition. The heating and lighting is adequate. There is drinking water readily available to children. All toilets flush properly, and there is running water, soap, and paper towels available for children to wash and dry their hands. There is a separate bathroom for staff on the second floor. There are no bodies of water on the property. Per Mr. Parker, there are no firearms on the premises of the childcare center. The food preparation area is clean, free from hazards and adequately equipped, and located in a separate building. There is a menu posted, and there are no cleaning supplies stored with food. There are ample mats and sheets available for children's use, and they are stored properly. The playground has safe and age appropriate equipment. LPA observed a covered playhouse as well as 2 covered multi-tricycle-go-rounds that are expected to be either repaired or removed in the near future. The staff acknowledged that 100% supervision is required and provided at all times. All required documents are posted for public review. The center is in compliance with the sign in and out procedure. Disaster drills are being conducted monthly, and the log indicates the last one done was on May 12, 2021. The center is equipped with a fully stocked first aid Kit, working telephone, carbon monoxide detector, pull down fire alarm and two 2A:10BC fire extinguishers. The center is providing 1% (2 yrs and up) milk to children in care. LPA observed the interaction between the staff and children in care, and found it to be in compliance with the Title 22 Regulations.
