25 | On 8/6/2021, Licensing Program Analyst Lisa Clayton arrived for an Unannounced Annual Inspection, and was greeted by Macrina Garcia Lopez. Present for this visit was licensee Laila Taslimi, and the following fingerprint cleared staff: Erika Membreno, Lilian Hernandez, Macrina Garcia Lopez, and Amber Blackman. LPA observed 7 children in care. The facility is in ratio and is in compliant with the capacity of the license today.
This is a full day program. The ages served are 3 years – entry to 1st grade. The hours of operation are from 7:30 AM – 6:00PM (Monday through Friday).
The day care center and playground were toured to conduct a Health and Safety Inspection. The facility is a converted residential, single story dwelling.
The day care center consists of 3 rooms, a kitchen, bathroom (with 2 toilets and 2 sinks) for the children, and 2 patio areas, all which appear to be safe, clean, and in good repair. All toilets flush properly, and there is running water, soap, and paper towels available for children to wash and dry their hands. The staff restroom is located in the director’s office/teacher’s lounge. LPA observed an isolation cot located inside the staff restroom. The lighting is adequate and the home has heating and ventilation for comfort. There is adequate storage for children's belongings. There is adequate furniture, toys and activities, which are age appropriate and in good condition. There is drinking water readily available to children. LPA Clayton did not observe any equipment that is prohibited. There is age appropriate napping equipment available. There are no pools, spas, hot tubs, or free-standing water on the property. The food preparation area is clean, free from hazards and adequately equipped. The menu is posted in a visible location and is dated at least one week in advance. The playground structure appears to be maintained and in safe condition, and free from hazards, with sufficient cushioning underneath to absorb a fall. LPA did not observe any dangerous items accessible today, including medications, poisons, disinfectants or cleaning supplies, that could be dangerous to children in care. All solid waste containers have tight fitting covers and appear to be in good repair. According to the licensee, measures are taken to keep the facility free from flies, other insects, or rodents.
All required documents are visible and posted for public review. The center is in compliance with the sign in and out procedure and uses the Brightwheel app. The center is equipped with a fully stocked first aid kit, working carbon monoxide detector, working smoke detector, working telephone, 2 pull down fire alarms, and a 4A10BC fire extinguisher. Disaster drills are being conducted at least once every 6 months, and the log indicates the last one done was in May of 2021. LPA observed the interaction between the staff and children in care and did not observe any child left without visual supervision or unattended. Per licensee, there are no firearms on the premises.
