Licensing Program Analysts, V. Wheatley conducted a prelicensing inspection for a new license. LPA met with applicant, Sheela Deraniyagala and Dimanthi Deraniyagala The applicants are requesting 45 capacity (35 preschool and 10 toddlers). LPA toured and inspected the facility according to the facility sketch.

LPA inspected a total of three classrooms and a small area (library). Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. LPA observed age appropriate toys and educational materials. The telephone service, heating, lighting, and ventilation is adequate. LPA observed two wall heaters which are properly screen and air conditioning. The electrical outlets are inaccessible. LPA observed cubbies for children's belongings and one first aid kit. LPA observed trash bins with lids. LPA observed cots for napping. The bedding will be brought by the parents and stored separately. The applicant and staff understands the bedding cannot touch another child's bedding.

This facility plans to provide Incidental Medical Services – IMS. For IMS information, see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. LPA discussed supervision, ratios, educational requirements, earthquake/fire drill emergency procedures, discipline policies, adult immunization's and mandatory training for mandated reporters.The parent board has all of the required documents posted. The director has heath and safety/CPR/first aid which expires February 2021.

LPA inspected a fully equipped kitchen with a sink. The staff will serve two snacks from two food groups. LPA observed snack menus posted. The juice will be 100% and milk 1%. There will be additional food on the premises for emergencies. The food allergies will be posted in the classroom and in the kitchen. The detergents and chemicals will remain separate from the food.

LPA observed 4 toilets and 4 sinks
Total capacity for toilets and sinks = 60 capacity

Outdoor equipment was inspected for health, safety, cushioning material, good material, good repair and age appropriateness. LPA observed an age appropriate play structure with safety cushion on the toddler yard and the preschool yard. There is a artificial grass throughout the yards. Drinking water will be brought outside for children to freely drink until the water fountain is repaired. A tree stump was observed on the preschool yard. LPA observed an area of shade and rest on both yards. There are no bodies of water.

Toddler Playground measures 635 sq. ft. = 8 capacity

A fire department clearance has been approved and received.

A license will be granted for 8 toddlers and 21 preschoolers when the following is completed:
1. Qualified director
2. Playground waiver for preschool yard
3. Door knob covers for 7 doors
4. Tree stump covered on the preschool yard
5. Toddler changing table installed
6. First aid kits
