LPAs Lowe and Casillas observed no changes to the outdoor activity space or gross motor indoor activity space. Measurements were not completed during this visit.
INFANT PROGRAM – PHYSICAL PLANT
Indoor activity space for infants was observed to be physically separate from space used by children in the child care center components.
The infant care center was observed to be equipped with appropriate furniture and equipment including, but not limited to, cribs, cots or mats; changing tables; and feeding chairs. Room 5 and Room 7 were observed with crib area separate from activity space with a total of 18 cribs/ cots. Room 4 was not observed with a crib area. Licensee stated room 4 will be designated for older infants who can nap on cots.
Furniture was observed to be maintained in good repair and safe condition. The type, height and size of furniture and equipment was observed to be age appropriate. LPAs Lowe and Casillas advised swings, playpens and all such equipment and furniture shall be assembled or installed according to the manufacturer's instructions and shall be maintained in good repair and safe condition. Swings were not observed within the infant program.
Toys were observed be safe and did not have sharp points or edges or splinters or be made of small parts that can be pulled off and swallowed.
LPAs advised rattles shall be large enough so that they cannot become lodged in an infant's throat and constructed so that they will not separate into small pieces.
There shall be a minimum of one hand washing sink to every 15 infants and one potty chair to every five infants being toilet trained.
Napping Equipment
A standard size six-year crib was observed meeting the following requirements shall be provided for each infant who is unable to climb out of a crib:
LPAS advised stacking wall cribs or cribs stacked one on top of another, often referred to as tiered cribs, shall not be permitted.
