25 | An unannounced Required – 1 Year Inspection was conducted on 12/22/2022 at 12:45 PM by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Katrina Chicote. Facility is currently licensed for a capacity of 37 but currently have 29 children enrolled. LPA announced purpose of visit and initially met with Horalia Vargas, Teacher. Also present was Santiago Aguilar, Head Teacher, who granted entrance to facility through intercom system. Facility is located on Starr King Elementary School campus. The program currently operates two programs: Part Time AM Program from 7:45 AM to 11:15 AM and a Full Day Program 7:45 AM to 2:45 PM, Monday thru Friday. LPA singularly toured the facility of both indoors and outdoors. LPA observed required postings posted on Parent Board in each classroom at time of inspection.
At the initial start of the site visit, there is a total census of 14 napping preschoolers and a total census of three staff (S1, S2, and S3) present. The facility is made up of two rooms, RM B-1 is Full Day Program and RM B-2 is Part Time Program. Upon arrival to facility part time program in B-2 was already dismissed for the day and B-2 preschoolers were napping.
Beginning at 12:46 PM, furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair in each classroom. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. LPA observed each classroom to have learning stations for dramatic play, art, science and math manipulatives with shelves filled with child appropriate toys available free of loose and sharp parts available for children. LPA observed quiet play area for children that has library and soft seating available in each classroom. There were cubbies observed as storage for children's belongings. Cots were inspected and LPA observed laid out in classroom that does not hinder walkways and exits accessible at time of inspection. Per Head Teacher, linens are provided by the facility and laundered by laundry service and additional blankets brought by parents are taken home weekly. Availability of drinking water was reviewed. LPA observed water coolers with paper cups available in each classroom. Age appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected for availability, good repair, water temperature, toilet paper, area safety and sanitation. LPA observed each classroom have access to their own bathroom each has two toilets and two sinks available.
