An unannounced annual/random inspection was conducted by Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Ariel Cazares and Bardo Baluyot who met with Site Supervisor Alma Campos. LPAs toured the facility which consists of two portables: State Preschool and Full Day. State Preschool consisted of 20 children with two staff and Full Day consisted of 9 children and 2 staff.

State preschool program currently operates an AM session from 8:45 AM to 11:45 AM in portable #1. Full Day program operates under the same license in portable # 2 from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. Storage for children's belongings and an isolation area with a sink, toilet were inspected. Isolation areas are in the staff offices adjacent to each portable. Age appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected for availability and good repair. General sanitation was observed. Availability of indoor drinking water was observed in form of water fountains. LPAs tested functionality in toilets and observed that 1 of 2 toilets was not flushing. Per Teacher Gema Perez, the toilet stopped functioning today and a work order was placed. The second toilet is in functioning order. The carbon monoxide detector in Portable #1 was tested and found operational.

Outdoor area and equipment was inspected for safety, cushioning material, good repair and age appropriateness. Required shade and fencing were inspected. Play area was inspected for hazards and inaccessibility to bodies of water. Drinking water is available in form of a water jug and disposable cups.

Snack/lunch menus were reviewed and observed posted in the facility. Food and snacks were reviewed for availability, quantity and appropriateness to children in care. Food preparation areas were toured for safety, cleanliness. A review of cleaning and food supply storage areas was made. First Aid supplies are available in each classroom.

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services - IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s personnel and administrative records. Teacher child ratios were observed and staff names recorded. Care and supervision was evaluated to determine if the basic needs of children are met. Sign in and out sheets were reviewed and found to be accurate.

No deficiencies were observed or cited on this date.

Exit interview was conducted with Site Supervisor Alma Campos. A copy of this report and appeal rights were provided. The Notice of Site Visit (LIC 9213) – must remain posted for 30 days during the hours of operation after each site visit by a licensing representative. Failure to maintain posting as required will result in a civil penalty of $100.00.
