32 | All areas identified on the facility sketch as accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for the safety of the children. At 1:30 PM, LPA White observe cooling and heating wall unit on the left wall of Living Room. There is a working telephone maintained in the home. Main Care Areas of the home are the Living Room, Dining Room, Kitchen, Bathroom 1, Bedroom 1, and Bedroom 2. Per Licensee, Bedroom 2 is only used for napping. Upon entry of the home you enter the Living Room-Dining Room area. At 1:45 PM, LPA White observed couches, cubbies with age appropriate toys, free of loose and sharp parts and to the right of Living Room is Dining Room with Dining Room table and chairs and China cabinet. At 1:48 PM, LPA observed Kitchen to the right of the home located through a doorway past the Dining Room. At 1:49 PM, LPA observed child safety lock on under cabinet sink and a drawer with key lock that contains sharp knives and other hazardous items. At 1:58 PM, LPA observed a wall heater in the hallway. Per Licensee, this wall heater is inoperable. LPA White confirmed that there is documentation on file with the department that wall heater is inoperable. At 2:00 PM, LPA entered Bedroom 1, located through a hallway in between Living Room and Dining Room, to have cubbies and plastic bins of age appropriate toys, bed, and carpet through out. Bathroom located at the end of the hall on the right was observed to be sanitary, free of hazards, and cleaning solutions at the time of inspection. At 2:10 PM, LPA observed Bedroom 2 to have a bed and napping child in the room, per Licensee this room is only used for napping. LPA observed electrical cover outlets all through the home. Per licensee, there are no pets and LPA did not observe any pets. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children are inaccessible. The Licensee states that there are no poisons or medicines in the home. The Licensee does understand that poison must be locked with a key or combination lock.
Per Licensee, the children will have access to backyard area through a back door in the Kitchen. LPA White observed backyard has concrete floor and adequate perimeter fencing through-out the yard. At 2:18 PM, LPA Franchesca White observed backyard to have three plastic playhouses, bicycle, and other age appropriate toys free of loose and sharp parts available for the children in the backyard and all trees, shrubs, and plants are maintained at time of inspection. At 2:20 PM, LPA observed off limits areas of backyard to be locked with a key. At 2:25 PM, LPA White observed a fenced off side yard area making it off limits to children in care.
