25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Warren Birks conducted a Required 1 Year inspection. LPA met with Licensee Veronica Behning who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. Also present was the Licensees cleared Spouse who was assisting with care. LPA observed six children (1 infant, five preschool). There are currently 12 children enrolled. The children's roster is current. Disaster drill log was also available (last drill conducted 6/14/2021).
This is a one story home which consists of three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Areas used by the children include the living room, two bedrooms, dining room, one bathroom, and back yard. Per Licensee, areas off limits to children and parents include: all other bedrooms, garage, and areas of backyard barricaded with child barrier gates. The kitchen is made inaccessible with a baby gate.
Areas accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for the safety of the children. There is a working telephone maintained in the home. Licensee has a small pet dog which remains in off limits area when children are in care. LPA advised Licensee to provide extra care and supervision if animals commingle with children as animals may be unpredictable. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children are inaccessible. LPA informed Licensee that poisons must be locked with a key or combination lock. The backyard has a shed that is inaccessible by child barrier gates.
Per Licensee there are no firearms, weapons or bodies of water on the premises. Safe toys, play equipment and materials were observed. The Emergency Disaster Plan, Parents Rights and License was posted on a poster board. Children’s records were reviewed to ensure that each child has the required documentation including Identification and Emergency, Immunization and Parents Rights. The valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher is fully charged and is due for service in September 2022.. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the bedroom and living room are in operable condition. The Licensee has current Pediatric First Aid/CPR. Mandated Reporter Training (expires November of 2021) |
