Physical Plant: All areas identified on the Facility Sketch were inspected, including the kitchen, storage and refrigeration; rest rooms, equipment, outside play area and overall conditions of facility. Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. Telephone service (there is a landline), heating (there is central heating and air-conditioning, window unit air-conditioners and ceiling fans), lighting (there is overhead lighting and natural lighting comes through the windows and when the classroom doors which lead outside are left open) and ventilation were evaluated. Storage for children's belongings were reviewed. Ill children will remain in the office. Availability of drinking water was reviewed. There are water pitchers, a pitcher for milk and water jugs in each classroom along with individual drinking cups. Children may also bring their individual drinking cups Age-appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected for availability, working condition, running water, soap, toilet paper, individual paper towels, area safety and sanitation. There is a restroom in the pre-school office for use by staff and/or the public.
Outdoor equipment was inspected for safety, cushioning material, good repair and age appropriateness. There are three separate playgrounds. On each playground, there is sand, cement and grass The Toddler playground has a drinking faucet and the playground for children 3 and older has a water dispenser. Each playground is completely surrounded on all four sides by a wrought-iron fence. The play area was inspected for hazards and inaccessibility to bodies of water.
Food Service: All food is catered by Hope's Italian Catering. A review of cleaning and food supply storage areas was made. Each classroom contains a mini refrigerator in which children's snacks and the teacher's personal items are stored. The Center provides A.M. snack, lunch, and P.M. snack. A.M. snack is served at 9:00 A.M., lunch is served at 11:30; and P.M. snack is served at 2:45. All food is served and eaten in the respective classrooms.
Health-Related Services: There is one First Aid Kit in the office, one in a cabinet on the 3 years and older playground and one in each classroom. A review of medication policy, including administering, labeling, storage, and records was made. There are currently two children who have Epi-pens prescribed. |
