25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Warren Birks conducted an unannounced Required 1 Year inspection. LPA met with Licensee Beatrice Beiler who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. Upon arrival LPA observed Licensee caring for two school age children (relatives on the census). There are currently five children enrolled.
This is a two story home which consist of six bedrooms, six bathrooms, living room, kitchen, dining area, Large family room, garage, backyard and back recreation room. The Licensee provides care on the first floor in a large family room and uses one bathroom downstairs and the backyard play area. Licensee indicated the backyard is off limits until 12/3/3031 as the facility used the backyard for a holiday party recently. The Licensee indicated she was getting assistance to remove party equipment in a few days. LPA advised Licensee to make sure that all hazards such as tools, cleaners, party equipment etc. be made inaccessible to children at all times when she opens up the backyard. LPA observed plenty of safe and age appropriate toys, books, educational items, arts and crafts materials.
Areas accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for the safety of the children. There is a working telephone maintained in the home. Licensee has a small pet dog that is accessible during daycare hours. LPA advised Licensee to provide extra care and supervision if animals are present with children as animals may be unpredictable. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children were made inaccessible. LPA informed Licensee that poisons must be locked with a key or combination lock.
Per Licensee there are no firearms or weapons and bodies of water. The Emergency Disaster Plan, Parents Rights and License was posted. The children's roster is current and the Disaster drill log is current. There are no children's records at this time due to no enrollment. LPA advised to have Identification and Emergency, Immunization and Parents Rights. The required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher is fully charged and is missing a service for due in February 2021. |
