25 | On September 15, 2023, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Carolyn Tuba conducted an unannounced required 1-year inspection. A COVID-19 risk assessment was conducted. LPA met with Office Coordinator, Patricia Fernandez and EC Coordinator, Seidy Ortiz who guided LPA on a tour to gain a census of 27 children and 4 staff members in care. Director, Hytosha Hodges-McDaniels arrived at approximately at 3 pm during the tour. This is a preschool age program licensed for 84 children which operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Per the Office Coordinator there are 78 children enrolled.
The following classrooms were inspected, Classroom 1 (young 2-year-olds), Classroom 2 (2-year-olds), Classroom 3 (young 3-year-olds), Classroom 4 (3-year-olds), Classroom 5 (young 4-year-olds), Classroom 6 (4-year-olds), Classroom 7 (TK). Teacher-child ratios were observed to be in accordance with Title 22 Regulations. All children were observed to be under supervision, including visual. Licensed facility is within the conditions, limitations, and capacity specified on the license.
The classroom furniture and equipment were inspected for good repair, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. All indoor classrooms were inspected to ensure that the floors have a surface that is safe and clean. All toilets and washing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating conditions. All materials and surfaces accessible to children are toxic free.
The facility provides AM & PM snacks and lunch is provided by food service from the Foothill Country Day School. Drinking water is brought from home and filtered water purifier for refills as needed. LPA observed menus posted in the classroom parent board and are also sent home to parents each week. The kitchen was inspected and was found to be clean and in order. LPA observed that there are smoke detectors that are connected to the elementary school and are tested throughout the year. LPA observed and tested carbon monoxide detectors in each classroom and are operable. LPA observed fire extinguishers in each classroom that were last serviced on October 18, 2022. Emergency disaster drill was last conducted and documented on May 2023.
