25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Justin Dorsey conducted an unannounced Annual Random Inspection. LPA met with Eileen Wasserman, Principal of General Studies, who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. This program consists of 9 classrooms. The 9 classrooms are part of a bigger facility that serves children up to the 8th grade. Per principal the preschool children do not interact with the older children.
Upon arrival LPA was told that the preschool children are on summer break and will return 08/26/19. At the time of the inspection the preschool classrooms were being used for a summer camp. The following classrooms were inspected: Room 123, Room 124, Room 125, Room 126, Room 129, Room 130, Room 131, Room 132, and Room 133.
Students have access to the class rooms, restrooms (located in the classrooms), library and outdoor play area. Students of the program are signed in at their assigned classroom by their parents. Children have the option of being transported by the facility or their parents. Furniture and equipment are safe and in good repair. There is telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation available at the facility. The nurses office and the staff restroom has been designated for the use of ill children.
Drinking water is available indoors and outdoors. Restrooms used were inspected for availability, good repair, water temperature, toilet paper, area safety and sanitation.
The preschool children are not assigned a kitchen (there is a kitchen on the campus for the older children). The facility provides A.M. and P.M. snack, lunch is provided by parents. Containers used to discard food have tight fitting lid at this time. Poisons are locked in a cabinet. Cleaning compounds and sharp items are inaccessible. |
