25 | On 5/7/2024 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Staicy Perry conducted an unannounced case management inspection. A COVID 19 risk assessment was conducted. LPA met with Site Supervisor Anna Martinez. LPA observed a total of 58 children with 11 staff in care. Facility operates M-F from 8:00am-4:30pm.
Analyst reviewed new Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, which requires the testing of water for lead in Child Care Centers (CCCs) with facility Director during the inspection. Per AB 2370, all CCCs that are in buildings constructed before January 1, 2010, must have their water tested and post the results by January 1, 2023, and every 5 years after the date of the first testing.
The purpose of today's inspection is to go over the water lead test results. Results indicate that fixture “D” faucet located in Kitchen had action level exceedance of lead. The "D" faucet located in Kitchen had a lead result of 7.4. During the visit, the site supervisor Anna stated that the kitchen faucet located in the kitchen was tested on 4/19/2024.
On 05/7/2024, the Department received notification from the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB), Division of Drinking Water (DDW). The SWRCB report indicated the facility was inspected and samples were collected on 4/18/24. Faucet located in kitchen reported with 5.5 ppb or greater lead exceedance level were as follows:
· During this inspection, water outlet “D” located in kitchen, was observed to be in use. LPA took a photo of the faucet D. LPA informed site supervisor to immediately make the faucet inaccessible. LPA observed the faucet to be in use for cooking meals for the children. It was stated by Eun, kitchen cook that she uses faucet D to cook the children’s meals. Site supervisor was observed to have facet taped off with a sign indicating not to use. LPA observed faucet D to be made inaccessible. Per Eun Sung Lee, Kitchen cook faucet D is used daily meals for the children. Per site supervisor, she will contact company to come out for a retest. Site supervisor signed declaration stating that the faucet D will no longer be in use until a retest is done resulting in 5.5 or lower. |
