25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Warren Birks conducted an unannounced Required 1 year inspection. LPA met with Program Director Margaret Blevins and Director Geraldine Ubalde who guided analyst on tour of the facility. This is an infant program and toddler component (serving Infants 6 weeks to 18 months and toddlers 18 months to 36 months). There is a physically separate preschool program operating on the premises. The facility operates Monday 7:30am to 5:00pm.
At approximately 8:45am all areas identified on the Facility Sketch were inspected. LPA observed the following teacher-child ratios during the inspection: Infant Room 1: (not in use), Infant Room 2: (not in use), Infant Room 3 (two staff and four Infants), Infant Room 4: (three staff and four infants), Toddler Room 1: (three staff and ten toddlers), Toddler Room 2: (three staff and eleven toddlers).
All furniture and equipment was inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. LPA observed telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation to be adequate. Storage for infants’ belongings and napping cots/cribs were inspected and meet all regulatory requirements at this time. The changing table has padding at least one inch thick and raised sides at least three inches high. The tables are also within arm’s reach of a hand washing sink. LPA observed toys to be clean and appear age appropriate. There is plenty of drinking water in the classrooms and available as needed. Children have their names labeled on their bottles and frozen breast milk. LPA observed first aid kits kept kept in each classroom. Carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors are present in the facility. 2A10BC Fire extinguishers are due for service in July 2023. Smoke detectors were not tested as the detectors are hard wired to the emergency pull down fire alarm.
Hazardous items including including medicine and cleaning compounds are stored inaccessible areas such as high cabinets and inaccessible office cabinets. At this time, the office is used as an isolation area. There are portable cots and changing mats for infants to rest and be changed if needed. The facility provides breakfast, Lunch and PM snack. Some parents provide snacks and breast milk for infants that is labeled.
