A Required - 1 Year inspection was conducted by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Timothy Fields. LPA met with Director Jessica Gutierrez and was guided on a complete tour of the facility. Operating hours are from 7am - 6pm, Monday - Friday. There is toddler component attached to the preschool license. Medication is administered to children in care and observed to be properly stored in the office. The office is also used as an isolated area for sick children. Napping equipment is brought to the office and the staff restroom is made accessible. First aid kit was inventoried. Kits are stored in the office as well as each classroom.

Four classrooms are used to operate the preschool program and one classroom is assigned to the toddler component. During todays inspection seven children were supervised by one floater/teacher and two volunteers in the Muskrat classroom. Eleven children were supervised by one floater/teacher and one volunteer in the Chipmunk classroom. In the Mutchkins classroom one teacher and volunteer were supervising nine children and in the Sprites classroom one teacher and one teacher assistant were supervising 14 children. One teacher and one teacher assistant was supervising nine children in the Pixies toddler classroom.

Each classroom was inspected for cleanliness and good repair. LPA observed age appropriate toys and equipment. Lighting was in operable condition and classrooms were properly ventilated. Floor rugs were sufficiently clean. Napping equipment was properly stored. Individual storage space was inspected and observed to be properly labeled. Each classroom has a source of drinking water. The bathroom was clean and in operable condition. The kitchen was inspected for cleanliness. Food was observed to be in good quality.

Outdoor area and equipment was inspected for safety, cushioning material, good repair and age appropriateness. Required shade and fencing were inspected. Play area was inspected for hazards and inaccessibility to bodies of water. Teacher child ratios were observed and staff names recorded.

Staff and children records were reviewed for completeness including but not limited to Criminal Record Clearances for adults, Director Qualifications and verification of CPR/First Aid and health preventive practices documentation. Review of required forms was made and including menu. Sign-in/out sheets were reviewed.

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. After a complete inspection of the facility, the following deficiencies were observed according to California Code of Regulations Title 22 Division 12 during today's visit as indicated on the 809D

  1. The blue and white play structure on the preschool was not sturdy. One of the wooden planks were loose.
