25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Warren Birks conducted an unannounced case management inspection on 9/8/2022. LPA Birks met with Eliana Carbajal who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. There was 40 children and nine staff present during the inspection.
The purpose of today's inspection is to review and discuss the September 22, 2022 water lead test results received on October 5, 2022. Results indicate that one water source had action level exceedance of lead. The water faucet in the Munchkins classroom had a lead result of 6.22. LPA Birks observed the faucet and (plumbing fixtures underneath the sink) were replaced with new non-lead plumbing fixtures. The faucet is not shut off because staff were directed by Lead Testing technicians to flush the water four times daily. However, staff keep the faucet covered with plastic and cover the sink with tape so it is inaccessible to children. Director Carbajal indicated the facility uses water from the kitchen (which was tested and indicated to have passing water levels).
At approximately 2:40pm LPA Birks took pictures of the water faucet and plumbing fixtures during the inspection. A deficiency was cited to ensure that the water faucet noted will not be used as a drinking source or food preparation source for children.
The deficiency listed on the following page was observed by the LPA and is being cited in accordance with California Code of Regulations Title 22. Please see attached LIC 809-D. The deficiency that is being cited needs to be cleared to protect the children’s health & safety. Director Carbajal reiterated that the water source is not in use. Director Carbajal also indicated submitted a written plan of correction during todays visit. Therefore, the citation is cleared.
Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Director Eliana Carbajal. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. |
