25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Jeanette Estrada and Susann Sanchez conducted an unannounced annual inspection. LPAs met with Director Sarah Chavez who guided analysts on tour of facility at 11:28 AM. This is a preschool program with five licensed classrooms but only three are being used at this time due to Covid-19. This facility is located on a Montebello Unified School District elementary school. Facility operation hours are from Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
All areas identified on the Facility Sketch were inspected. The following staff was present during this inspection: Yellow Room: Staff #1 and 3 preschoolers; Orange Room: Staff #2, and #3 with 9 preschoolers; Blue Room: Staff #4 and 8 preschoolers. The following was observed during tour of facility:
PHYSICAL PLANT - Disinfectants, cleaning solutions and other items that may pose a danger to children, were observed to be inaccessible. Director states there are no poisons in the facility. Per Director there are no medications stored in the facility. LPA Estrada observed the cleaning supplies stored in the bottom cabinets with a lock. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. Hand washing sinks are safe, sanitary and are operating properly. Four of the ten toilets are not working properly and per Director they will be replaced by 7/23/21. There are six toilets available for use which were observed to be safe, sanitary and operating properly. All floors are clean and safe.
Kitchen areas/food preparation areas and food storage areas are kept clean and are free of litter, rubbish and rodents and/or any other vermin. All storage containers for solid waste, including moveable bins shall have tight-fitting covers that are kept on, and in good repair. Trash cans used to discard food have tight fitting lids. Drinking water is readily available both indoors and outdoors. Children bring their own water bottles and are provided with refills throughout the day. The facility was observed to be free of flies, other insects and rodents.
