25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Crystal Green and Alanna Gontarek conducted an unannounced required annual inspection. Licensing staff met with Licensee, Delmy Mikelly, who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. Also present during this inspection was Licensee Assistant Carmina Armenta. Licensee, Alexander Mikelly arrived later during this inspection. There were 9 children present upon arrival, 2 more arrived with Licensee Alexander Mikelly during inspection. Licensee states that there are currently 15 children enrolled, children's roster was reviewed and is current.
This is a two-story home which consists of 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room (Fireplace: which was observed by LPAs to be inaccessible), front yard (fenced) and backyard (fenced). The children use the bathroom in the hallway, living room and dining room areas. Per licensee, areas off limits to children and parents include: Entire upstairs and both bedrooms located downstairs. The back yard is also off-limits. There is a child safety gate which keeps stairs inaccessible to children. The licensee provides food for children in care.
Areas accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for safety and comfort. Family members residing in the home are 6 adults and 0 children (criminal record clearances on file). Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children are inaccessible in all areas of the home. The licensee states that there are no poisons in the home.
Per licensee, there are no weapons, firearms or bodies of water on the premises. LPAs observed a small bird kept in a cage located on the front porch. Per licensee Alexander, there is also a pet tortoise located in a cage in the off-limit areas of the back yard.
