32 | washing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating conditions. At this time, the office is used as an isolation area. Parents are contacted immediately when children are determined to be ill and staff are ensuring that children with obvious symptoms of illness are not being accepted.
Snack menus were reviewed to ensure that they are being posted at least one week in advance and visible to an authorized representative. The facility provides AM snack and PM snack. Children bring their own lunches. Director stated that at this time they do not use the refrigerator in the main fellowship hall and have not been giving the children anything refrigerated for snacks. Per Director, children are given crackers and oatmeal as snack. All kitchen, food preparation, and storage areas are clean, free of litter, rubbish, and rodents/vermin. All food is protected from contamination, and LPA inspected that any contaminated food is discarded immediately. LPA did observe expired food in the pantry and Director discarded the expired food during the visit. There is drinking water available in the preschool classroom via a water fountain. Children fill water bottles brought from home which are taken outdoors during outdoor play. All storage containers for solid waste, including moveable bins, have tight fitting covers on and are in good repair. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, and other items that are dangerous to children are stored in an area inaccessible to children. Director states that there are no poisons stored at the facility.
LPA observed that there are working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the facility. The fire extinguisher indicates fully charged and has a service tag with a date of 7/21/22. LPA observed that the LIC 9040, Children’s Roster was not updated. Director updated the roster during the inspection. Director stated she has not tested the water at the facility for presence of lead. Director stated she does receive the Provider Information Notices (PINs) but was unaware she needed to have the water tested for lead. LPA advised director to read the PIN and follow the lead testing procedures as outlined in the PIN.
The facility has a yard that is fully fenced. LPA observed the fence to be less than the required 4 feet in height in the area by the sandbox. Outdoor playground equipment is in safe condition, free of sharp,
