Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Seung Lee conducted an Annual Random inspection to the above facility. LPA met with Kimberlee Carels, Licensee, who guided Analyst on a tour of the facility. Licensee was present with 11 children along with two assistants at the time of the inspection. All areas of the facility sketch was inspected.

This is a single story home which consists of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, and kitchen. Children have access to the family room and kitchen. Children also have access to all three bedrooms, however for sleeping purposes only. The master bathroom is off-limits to children in care. The home was inspected for safety, comfort, cleanliness, ventilation, and telephone service (land line).

Currently residing in the home are Licensee, her spouse Steven Carels, adult daughter Kaitlin Carels, and son-in-law, Alan Caron. All individuals must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption prior to working, residing or volunteering in a licensed home. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which could pose a danger, were inaccessible to children during this inspection.

LPA observed the required 2-A:10:B-C fire extinguisher on the premises with a receipt attached indicating it was purchased on 10/23/2017. Licensee practiced emergency drills with children on 10/30/2019 per disaster drill log. CPR for Licensee and assistants is good till 12/2019. The smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are working properly. There are age appropriate toys available for children. Two large dogs were observed and are kept separately from children in care. Per licensee, there are no weapons, firearms or bodies of water on the premises.

Children's Roster is readily available and updated. Children’s Files were reviewed.

The following were discussed: Individuals who are 18 years of age or older living in the home must be finger print cleared prior to being in the presence of the children in care. Individuals within one month of their 18th birthday must be fingerprinted immediately. No smoking, No infant walkers, No baby bouncers, No Johnny jumpers, No exersaucers and any other item that falls into that category. LPA discussed disaster drills, posting requirements, children records requirements, mandated child abuse and injury/death reporting.
  • LPA reviewed SIDs, Never Shake A Baby, and safe sleeping practices. Infants should sleep mouth up, on their backs, free of clutter surrounding their sleeping space.
  • This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. No Deficiencies were cited in this inspection.
The Notice of Site Visit (LIC 9213)must remain posted for 30 days during the hours of operation after each site visit by a licensing representative. Failure to maintain posting as required will result in a civil penalty of $100.00.
