25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Warren Birks conducted an unannounced case management inspection for the purpose of inspecting the facility for a capacity increase. LPA met with Licensee Bertha Alamo and cleared assistant who were providing care for three children (2 infants and 1 preschool). The Licensee is requesting to increase to a Large Family Child Care with a capacity of 12-14 children. Family members residing in the home are three cleared adults. LPA observed three (3) children present at the time of inspection (in compliance with license limitations).
All areas identified on the facility sketch were inspected. This is a single story home consisting of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, kitchen, dining room, family room, and laundry area. The children use the living room, kitchen, one restroom and the backyard for childcare. Off-limits areas include all three (3) bedrooms, master bathroom, laundry area and 2 gated areas in the backyard. Home was inspected for comfort, cleanliness, ventilation, and telephone service (land line). LPA observed age appropriate toys and equipment for children. LPA observed an above ground pool surrounded by a 5 foot 10 inch self latching wooden gate. The gate has wooden slats that are 3 inches apart and there is no opening space from the ground. The Licensee will be required to install lock on sliding door leading to outdoor pool. The Licensee's 2A 10BC fires extinguisher is fully charge with an inspection due date of May 2020. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors near the dining room were tested and are in operable condition. There are emergency supplies on the premises and a first aid kit.
There is no garage on the premises. LPA observed no accessible medicines, cleaners or hazardous items that can pose a danger to children. Kitchen cabinets and bathroom cabinets have locks to prevent children from accessing hazardous items. Per Licensee, there are no firearms or weapons at the facility. Per applicant, there are no dual licenses at this address. Napping equipment for infants is available. All posting requirements were observed to be posted at the time of visit. |
