25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Warren Birks conducted an unannounced Required - 3 Year inspection. LPA met with Licensee Sandra Castillo who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. Upon arrival, LPA observed Licensee and cleared assistant providing care for five preschool children. Individuals residing in the home were noted. The children's roster is current.
At Approximately 9:30am LPA conducted an inspection of all areas of the facility sketch. This is a one-story home which consists of three bedrooms, one and half bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room, front yard and a garage. The children use the living room, kitchen, dining area, half restroom and the front yard. Per licensee, areas off limits to children and parents include: all bedrooms, one bathroom and the garage.
Areas accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for the safety of the children. There is a working telephone maintained in the home. Licensee has no two small dogs at this time. LPA advised Licensee to provide extra care and supervision as pets may be unpredictable. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children are inaccessible. LPA did observe cleaner in an area that was blocked and in the back of a counter in the kitchen. LPA issued a technical advisory violation and reminded Licensee to ensure all items such as medicines, chemicals, cleaners, paints, lotions, nail polish, matches, sharp objects, uncovered grills, propane, and similar hazardous items must be inaccessible at all times. Poisons must also be locked with a key or combination lock. LPA informed Licensee to provide extra care and supervision for outdoor play as the play area is in the front yard and has fencing is less than five feet.
Fire arms and pool regulations were discussed. Per Licensee there are no bodies of water and LPA did not observe any on the premises. The License, Parents Rights Poster, and Earthquake Preparedness was posted. The valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged however, has an unknown date for 12 month service. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the dining room were tested |
