25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Warren Birks and Alicia Bailey conducted an unannounced random inspection. LPA met with Licensee Emma Cardenas who along with a cleared assistant were caring for seven children ( 2 school age, 2 infants and 3 preschool). There are 13 children enrolled.
This is a one story home which consists of four (4) bedrooms and three (3) bathrooms, kitchen, living room ( FIREPLACE off limits), garage and backyard (fenced). The children use the kitchen, two bedrooms and backyard for daycare. The garage is not used for daycare. Per licensee, areas off limits to children and parents include: Living room, two bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, dining room. The LPA toured all areas used by children during this visit. Note: The wall heater has a barrier and the outdoor play area appears to be free of hazards. All off limits areas are inaccessible by barrier.
All areas used by children were inspected for safety, comfort, cleanliness, ventilation and heating (central). The licensee states that there are no poisons in the home. The licensee understands that any poisons must be locked with a key or combination lock. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, sharp objects were ire inaccessible. Per licensee, there are no weapons, firearms or bodies of water on the premises. There are appropriate toys observed for children. The Licensee's 2A 10BC fires extinguisher is fully charge and required service June 2020. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the living room were tested and are in operable condition. There are emergency supplies on the premises and a first aid kit.
The licensee understands that in her absence a qualified adult individual who has a valid and current adult/infant CPR & Pediatric First Aid certification and a valid criminal record clearance (associated to the facility) can care for children. The licensee's CPR expires in December 2019. LPA observed children's files containing Identification and Emergency forms, Immunization records and Parent's Rights. |
