25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Dayna Chambers conducted an unannounced annual inspection to the above facility on June 12, 2023. LPA arrived at the facility at 10:45am and met with Emma (Jenny) Cardenas, Licensee who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. Per Licensee, operation hours are Monday through Friday 7:00am to 6:30pm. There are 8 children that are currently enrolled. A current children’s roster was available for review. There were 3 children present upon arrival. This is a one-story home which consists of 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, den, front yard, and backyard (fenced). The children use the bathroom in the bedroom / activity room on the right side, the den, and the patio on right side of home (Facing the home). The bathroom is in the activity room. There are four bedrooms in the front of the home and two in the rear. The off-limit areas include the kitchen, 5 bedrooms, living room, and attached garage. The licensee provides food for children in care. Individuals who reside in the home were noted and discussed. Per Licensee, they currently have 2 qualified assistants and the co-licensee, Scarlett Llamas. All adults present in the home have obtained a criminal record clearance or exemption prior to working, residing, or volunteering in the licensed childcare home. Licensee states that there are no firearms stored in the home. There are two dogs on the premises and are not accessible to the children in care. All areas identified on the facility sketch that are accessible for children to use were inspected for safety, comfort, and cleanliness. There is telephone service via cellphone and the cellphone stays at the facility during operation hours. There is ventilation and heating via central heat and air. Safe toys play equipment and materials were observed.
Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which could pose a danger to children were observed to be inaccessible to children. The licensee states that there are no poisons in the home and understands that storage areas for poisons must be locked with a key or combination lock. The restroom that children use was observed to be safe and sanitary. The valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged and was serviced on 05/22/2023 as indicated on service tag. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were tested and are operable. Licensee states that she does not enroll infants. Currently, the parents and children enter on the right side of the home through the gate which is locked. The children use the right-side patio that is fenced.
