32 | At the far end of the daycare room, there is a bathroom available for children in care to use. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which could pose a danger are inaccessible to children. LPA observed napping equipment in the form of mats. Equipment is stored in next to the bathroom. There are 3 play yards available for infants in care. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were tested and are operable. The licensee states that there is a land line on the premises. Where children are less than five years old are in care, stairs are fenced or barricaded. Stairs are located at the front of the home. The safety gate adjacent to the kitchen keeps the stairs inaccessible to children in care. At 8:58am, a fire extinguisher was observed. The valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged and was serviced on 06/12/2022, as indicated on receipt. Per State Fire Marshall standards, fire extinguishers shall be serviced annually.
At 9:05am,LPA observed the back yard area. The outdoor play area was observed to be fenced. At this time, children are using the back yard for outdoor play time. There are play houses, basketball hoop, grass area, space to run, and a shaded area for children. The licensee is observed to be operating within the license capacity limitations.
FACILITY RECORDS:
The licensee and other personnel have completed training on preventive health practices including Pediatric First Aid and CPR. The licensee's Pediatric First Aid and CPR expires on 06/2021. Per licensee, they have not been able to find an in person class. LPA discussed the options around the area. Licensee has not completed Mandated Reporter. An Advisory Note is being provided to address the missing training. LPA discussed that the training must be completed every two years. The licensee does have proof of immunization against influenza, tuberculosis, pertussis, and measles. Children’s records were reviewed, including but not limited to, a copy of the emergency information card that contains all the information specified by regulation.
The following was discussed:
-Individuals who are 18 years of age or older living in the home must be finger print cleared prior to being in the presence of the children in care. Individuals within one month of their 18th birthday must be fingerprinted immediately.
-There are no pets on the premises.
-Infant Walkers, Johnny Jumpers, Saucer Chairs, and/or any other item that falls into these categories are not permitted in a family child care facility.
