LPA observed learning stations for dramatic play, math, and science with toys well maintained free of loose and sharp parts and a library area with soft cushion seating available for quiet play. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. There were cubbies observed as storage for children's belongings. LPA observed standard blue cots stored against wall by bathrooms of each classroom at time of inspection. Per S2, linens are provided by families and taken home weekly for washing. LPA observed cots being laid out not hindering walkways to exits and entrances at time of inspection. Availability of drinking water was reviewed. LPA observed water coolers and cups available for children. Age appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected for availability, good repair, water temperature, toilet paper, area safety and sanitation. LPA observed bathroom available in each classroom that had two toilets and two sinks. LPA observed walk up changing table in RM-1 bathroom.
A first aid kit is kept in teacher closet in each classroom and was inventoried for necessary supplies. At 11:42 AM, LPA tested carbon monoxide detector that is located in RM-2 and observed to be in operable condition at time of inspection. LPA observed smoke detectors and fire extinguishers present at the facility. LPA observed fire extinguishers have been serviced on 06/28/2023. Disaster drill log was available and LPA observed last drill conducted on 07/25/2023. Per Director, they do not administer medications to children at the facility. Per Director, isolation area for sick children is on a designated mat in the classrooms. Hazardous items including poisonous cleaning compounds were stored inaccessible to children.
At 11:45 AM, LPA observed Kitchen area Food and snacks were reviewed for availability, quantity and appropriateness to children in care. Food preparation areas were toured for safety, cleanliness and proper equipment. Per Director, facility provides Breakfast, Lunch, and snack to children. LPA observed current Menus posted in each classroom. During inspection, LPA observed children eating lunch in designated classrooms and trash cans to discard food have tight fitting lids.
Teacher-child ratios were observed and staff names recorded. Care and supervision was evaluated to determine if the basic needs of children are met and appropriate. Sign-in and out sheets and procedures were reviewed. LPA observed all 22 children present signed in at time of inspection.
