25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Warren Birks and Susann Sanchez conducted an announced case management inspection to inspect and measure additional classroom and outdoor space per Licensee's capacity increase request. LPAs met with Executive Director Linda Wilson and Program Coordinator Michelle Ramirez who gave a tour of the facility. This is a preschool program currently licensed to provide care for 70 preschool children. The Licensee is seeking to increase capacity to 117 with the addition of the two new classrooms and additional outdoor space. The facility is still undergoing partial construction however, construction areas are inaccessible to children.
The preschool is currently composed of two (2) classrooms (Oak and Olive). The two (2) additional classrooms to be added for the capacity increase are the Seedling Room and the Acorn Room. Visitors and parents enter through the front entrance and escort children to the classrooms. The two additional classrooms (Seedling and Acorn) have a separate entrance northwest of the Oak and Olive classrooms.
Furniture, equipment, toys and supplies are age appropriate and in good repair. Flooring and rugs are clean and observed to be new. Primary lighting source is overhead lighting. The classroom has central air/heat. Cubbies are available for storage of children's belongings. The isolation area remains in the director's office and children will use the staff restroom which is next to the directors office. A cot is available for ill children. Restrooms are clean and odor free. There is an adequate supply of toilet paper, paper towels, and dispensable soap. The toilets and sinks are height appropriate for children. Trash containers for solid waste have tight fitting covers. Napping cots are available in the classroom storage areas. There is a secured refrigerator upstairs for medicines and locked cabinet for inaccessible items.
The current outdoor activity play area is comprised of cement and artificial turf cushioning material that absorbs a fall. Toys and play equipment were observed. The play area has shade sails for hot tempartures. Drinking water containers and cups are available both indoors and outdoors.
