25 | An unannounced Annual Required Inspection was conducted on this day by Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Lissete Gonzalez and Alanna Gontarek in accordance with Community Care Licensing (CCL) Title 22 Division 12 Chapter 1, governing Infant Child Care Centers. Facility is currently licensed for a capacity of 40 infants. This is an infant center with a toddler option. Licensing staff met with Head Teacher Sara Barron who guided LPAs on an indoor and outdoor tour of the facility. At 3:15p.m., Rebecca Jimenez-Barlow, Early Head Start Program Manager, arrived to complete the inspection.
During the site inspection, there was a total census of 3 infants napping, and one infant awake with two teachers in the Wobblers Room, 6 napping toddlers with two teachers in the Toddlers Room, and 5 infants with three teachers in the Infant Room for a total census of 15 infants with 7 teachers present.
Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. Storage for infants’ belongings and napping equipment/cribs was inspected and meet all regulatory requirements. Availability of drinking water was observed in each classroom. The children have their own labeled sippy-cups and baby bottles in the Infant Room. Age appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected for availability, good repair, water temperature, area safety and sanitation. Changing tables have raised sides at least three inches high and is within arm’s reach of a hand washing sink. Toys observed to be clean.
A first aid kit is kept in each classroom. Carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors are present in the facility but were not tested as children were napping. Fire extinguishers were serviced on July 8th, 2019. Storage cabinet in classrooms containing hazardous items including poisonous cleaning compounds were locked and inaccessible to children.
