Licensing Program Analyst, Seung Lee conducted an unannounced annual random site inspection to ensure the health & safety standards as required by regulations governing family child care homes. Upon arrival, LPA met with Licensee Alma Contreras and toured the home. There were 9 napping children present with 2 assistants. Individuals residing in the home are the licensee, licensee's husband and licensee's adult son who is finger print cleared. This day care's operating hours are Monday- Friday 7:30am to 5:30pm.

This is a one story home which consists of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room (FIREPLACE: inaccessible), children's playroom, garage, basement, and backyard (fenced). The following areas are used for day-care: 1 bedroom (Children's playroom), 1 restroom, and parts of the backyard. Off limits areas include living room, dining room, kitchen, garage, basement, 2 bedrooms, and 1 bathroom. The parents enter through the side gate of the yard, parents have the gate code per assistant, which leads to a door of the 1 bedroom that is used as the main day care room. LPA Lee observed outside benches by the door of the main room. Assistant stated that the children eat their meals at this area.

The facility has the Parent’s Rights poster and other appropriate forms posted on wall in the main class room. First Aid/CPR certificate for the Licensee is valid until 07/2020. Staff#1's CPR was observed to be valid until 11/01/2020. Fire extinguisher was observed in the kitchen with a service tag of 09/23/2020. Disaster drill log shows that the last fire/emergency drill with children was conducted on 05/21/2021

Detergents and cleaning supplies were inaccessible. Licensee states that all hazardous materials are kept in the off limits part of the home in the laundry room by the kitchen. There is an operational smoke detector in the hallway by the main room and a carbon monoxide detector inside the main room. The home has electrical outlet covers throughout and maintains a First Aid Kit.

There are adequate age appropriate toys, books, and games. There are no firearms present on the premises as stated by the assistant. There were no pools or spas, or other bodies of water observed. There is one cat that resides in the off limits part of the home per Licensee.

The following were discussed: Individuals who are 18 years of age or older living in the home must be finger print cleared prior to being in the presence of the children in care. Individuals within one month of their 18th birthday must be fingerprinted immediately. No smoking, No infant walkers, No baby bouncers, No Johnny jumpers, No exersaucers and any other item that falls into that category. LPA discussed disaster drills, posting requirements, children records requirements, mandated child abuse and injury/death reporting. During file review, LPA Lee observed that the two assistants had current CPR, mandated reporter training certificate, and proof of immunization available.LPA reviewed SIDs, Never Shake A Baby, and safe sleeping practices. Infants should sleep mouth up, on their backs, free of clutter surrounding their sleeping space.

Incidental Medical Services are not provided at this time. Licensee was informed to contact the department 30 days prior to enrolling any child with IMS needs. LPA advised licensee to refer to Section 101173 and 101226 for further information on regulatory requirements. The notice of site inspection must remain posted for a period of 30 days during business hours. Failure to maintain posting will result in a civil penalty of $100.00 dollars.
