32 | Facility has a washing service that washes linens weekly and facility has spares as needed. Storage for children's belongings were inspected. All toilets and washing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating conditions. Per teacher, right toilet has a minor leak and LPA observed some water collecting at the base of the toilet. Bathroom floor is concrete and leak is not creating a slipping hazard. Teacher stated a ticket for repair has been sent in. Last day of school is next Friday. First Aid supplies are available and complete. Drinking water was readily available indoors. A side room next to the office is used as the isolation area, there is a chair available for an ill child to rest. Teachers use a staff bathroom located to the left of the room. LPA observed the ceiling in the teacher space have chipping paint scattered along the ceiling and advised that chipping paint needs to be corrected. Facility is an older building and chipping paint is a potential a hazard.
Licensing staff observed all required forms/publications to be posted by the front entrance. Snack menus were reviewed to ensure that they are being posted one week in advance where it is visible by the child's authorized representative. Menus for the past 30 days are available upon request. Facility provides breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack through the school district meal service. All storage containers for solid waste, including moveable bins shall have tight-fitting covers that are kept on, and in good repair. Trash cans used to discard food have tight fitting lids. The facility was observed to be free of flies, other insects, and rodents.
Licensing staff observed the required 2A10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged and was serviced on 04/23/2024 on service tag. Per State Fire Marshall standards, fire extinguishers shall be serviced annually. Facility has a functioning carbon monoxide and smoke detector that meets statutory requirements. Teacher states there are no weapons, firearms, or bodies of water on the premises. The last Disaster drill was conducted on 5/23/24. Reminded teachers that disaster drills must be conducted at least every six months.
At 12:00pm, licensing staff reviewed the outdoor play area. The playgrounds equipment was inspected for safe condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. The surface of the outdoor activity space was inspected for safe conditions and free of hazards. All areas around or under high climbing equipment, swings, slides, and similar equipment are cushioned with material that absorbs a fall. LPA observed a yellow metal bar bus to the right of the playground that was a hazard due to the rain. Metals bars were slippery from moisture and rain. LPA observed that there is not adequate shade where the children play. Drinking water is readily available outdoors. The program is using the kindergarten playground and waiver is on file. LPA consulted with teachers about being extra vigilant in supervision and safety and per teacher, they are practicing mindfulness with the students in specific areas of the play structure.
